Yellow and Blue, Take Two

I just can't get enough of a good colour combination. It isn't that I lack imagination (so says the woman that wore nothing but black until she was in her forties) but if something works, it works!

The only vintage in this outfit is the skirt (and a bag not in the photo). I personally think a mid-70's yellow, polyester, Donkenny skirt is all the vintage a person needs, but that's me. Your vintage needs may differ.

Hmmm. know what else I need, while we're on the subject? Geez, get your mind out of the gutter.

What I need is the occasional polyester maxi gown in a nice shade of blue. Well whadda ya know, I have one of those too.
Yes, it is too big, and no, I don't care.

What you do is get a huge brooch, and pin the too-big shoulder to your bra strap. There you are, instant faux alteration. I once knew someone that stapled the hem of her trousers-now that's faking an alteration! This is a little fix to make it wearable. Just don't look too closely at the other side! Pity I didn't have matching brooches, I could pin 'em over my tits.

Stop laughing-you know I would do it.

Thank you all for your kind words about my supper mishap. I'm trying my damnedest not to be brought down by these incidents, despite each day bringing a new challenge. I could do without limping as I'm short and I feel like The Penguin from Batman when I walk. I guess I'll stay away from tuxedos and top hats for the time being! When I was a child taking skating lessons the first thing they taught us was how to fall down. I am finally putting that to use as it is now reflex not sticking my hand out to break a fall (it is easier to break a wrist than a hip). If you wait long enough, you put even the most seemingly useless knowledge to use. Someday, perhaps I'll find something interesting digging in the garden and I can make my anthropology degree worthwhile. Until then, thank you again for putting up with my moaning. I'll try to keep it off blog because...BORING!

Hope you're having a great week.

Well Goody, we all have these mishaps so we can all commiserate. I've gone off my progesterone cream for a month just to see of it makes a difference. I think it does help with feeling a bit calmer, although even when I was younger & all my hormones were a flyin' with reckless bravado I was anxiety ridden & a tad scatterbrained. It seems to help lessen the aches & pains although that may be my mood too. My skin seems less dry on it too.

If you have to choose between breaking a wrist or breaking a hip choose the wrist, breaking a hip is the road to raze, ruin, & the convalescent home.

That bright blue floral bag with the blue tights is fab! The Donkenny skirt ensemble looks like you're off to a weekend in the Hamptons or Fire Island.

I'm sorry but Opium, I just can't do. It's horrid & everyone I knew that wore it was someone like the uncouth and obnoxious blinged jeans curated thrift store owner in the previous post.

Dear husband is mad at me because I chopped his scraggly ponytail into a handsome man-bob. He pushed me over the edge when he came home wearing a man-bun yesterday. I told him his man-bob looked handsome & sexy & he told me he didn't want to look handsome or sexy. :p

Once again, Goody, I'm in awe of your ability to mix-and-match patterns! The print jacket, the print blouse with the vintage skirt, and those earrings are wearable art as you've combined them. * Using a broach to secure a bra strap is a new trick for me -- but I have seen a hem stapled and a heavy maxi hemmed with duct tape.

It is indeed odd how useful one finds those childhood "lessons" in later life. My own fall-on-the-ice landing technique relies on martial arts practice, as does my raise-the-softener-salt-into-the-brine-tank lift. (Kee-yiii!) I'm confident in your ability to develop innovative coping strategies to deal with whatever difficulties your medical condition presents. (e.g., when my mum's arthritis made wringing hand washing painful, she stomped her undies in the bathtub...)

Honey, you moan as often as you like...I'm here rooting for ya!

Gawd I love your clothes!!! That first jacket really caught my eye.

Ooooh! That is a brilliant idea to faux alter the maxi with the broach!!

hang in there, it will get better!!

That mesh jacket and patterned shirt look absolutely brilliant together and yet another outfit enhanced by the shower curtain.
The brooch as a rapid alteration is something I've used a few times, along with stapled and duct taped hemlines and waistcoats over knackered zips. I'm often impressed when I get back home later to find my clothes are still hanging on my body.
Before my hip replacement I was forever banging into doorways or falling over as I gradually lost control of my body. These days I still limp like a bastard but it has it's benefits, strangers stop and offer me lifts home and old men insist on carrying my shopping. xxx

Wish I knew how to fall down when I was 4, as I broke my arm skidding on ice. I was in pain, but my dad just laughed, and only realized much later that it was "for real". I never let him forget this.
Like the brooch idea, and that handbag is adorable. xxx

I'm with Bibi, better a wrist than a hip.

I am now going to be disappointed if we never see Baps of Bling...
