When I saw the beautiful breads at
Chef Tess Bakeresse, I knew I wanted to try the technique. I have a (very) old cookbook that deals with a similar technique, but employs the use of food colouring and stencils. I liked this better.
Not bad for a first attempt. I can see using this quite a bit through the holidays. Gifts of homebaked bread anyone?
OK, go on and get out of here and look at Tess' creations.
That is so creative! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of bread that I saw in the bakeries in Germany. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Susan and Lulu. I could see this taking interesting turns on slashed bread as you paint the design on nearly fully baked bread-perhaps the scoring would suggest patterns, etc. I'm not terribly skilled with a paintbrush, but this technique is so interesting it might be worth learning. I should bake a couple dozen rolls and work on miniatures.
