Don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight if you live in a place that does this silly song and dance with the clocks.
Th weather cooperated today with some spring-like temperatures. Last week we were bundled-up braving a polar vortex. Still wearing the nan-tights because...well because there's a bit of a chill in the air.
Today's excitement was the installation of a storm door. Now I can open the front door and let some air in without a million insects getting through. Just in time for spring. I bought seed packets yesterday (peas, spinach, rocket, lettuces, borage, etc.) as I just can't stand thinking about winter any longer. The spinach and peas can go in now, so that's my plan for Sunday.
Danny found this for me in the thrift store. What could be better than an Idiot's Guide to teaching? Almost as much fun as the book, "Learning to Enjoy Calculus." I must be a slow learner because I *Still* don't enjoy it.
This is a Hairy Woodpecker. Looks more like feathers from here, but what do I know?
The Office Max has a selection of chairs that are rated by how many hours you can sit without being fatigued. Most are in the 7-9 hour range. I'm not sure what that says about late capitalism that we sit in chairs for nine hour stretches, but I'm sure it isn't anything good. Anyway, Danny plopped himself down in a rather expensive leather chair and loudly announced, "I could sit in this chair for ten hours straight, sacking people!"
Look out Donald Trump.
I made a pineapple upside-down cake from fresh pineapple, and forgot to add the cherries. I did a bit of after-the-fact garnishing. I'd get tossed off those television baking shows in the first ten seconds. Good cake though.

Honestly Goodie. Of it wasn't for you I would not know what time of day it was. Let's get Spring into Gear!!
ReplyDeleteI do like those spectator shoes! And the Queen Mary toque in suede is exactly what's needed with a jacket worn over the spring-colored dress -- although you're right to add a touch of sparkle with pins. (Otherwise, it just sits there, waiting for an aigrette.)
ReplyDeleteNow I'm up at 05:00, drinking coffee and attempting to pretend that it's really 06:00 as indicated by all my deceitful clocks, and wishing fervently that I could get my fork into that fresh! pineapple upside down cake.
Yes, I am ready for Spring too - let's do it! Love the ladylike turquoise ensemble, what a great hat (well, two great hats, yours and Danny's!) xxx
ReplyDeleteOoo, you are SUCH a fox in that divoon turquoise number, and I am besotted with that handbag!Not to mention that spectacular HAT.
ReplyDeleteStorm door! Ah, what we call a screen door. I need one, dammit. Been blithering about it for a while.
Our clocks must be going back soon. being menopausal, I am for once happy to see the end of Summer! My hot flushes can keep me warm during Winter!

Seriously need a peek at Danny's hat collection.He obviously has your good sense of humour to find such a book for you! Must say I am almost ready to let you have Summer, but I know I will not enjoy Winter.
ReplyDeleteI would eat the smiley pineapple cake, he looks tasty. And please do show off Danny's hat collection, I bet he's got some fab ones.
ReplyDelete@Connie
ReplyDeleteIf you rely on me to know what time it is (or day) you're in BIG trouble!
Remember the old bumper sticker that read, "Don't follow me, I'm lost too!"
@Beth Waltz
I made the mistake of switching the clocks early-ish the night before, so I went to bed confused and awoke much the same.
@Curtise
I enjoy seeing your garden changing through the seasons. If you ever start taking photos indoors, I'll cry.
@Helga
Have you done the thing where you pretend to be buying ice cream at the supermarket just so you can stand there with your head in a freezer for a bit? It works!
@Sue
I have convinced Danny that he needs to do a guest post about his hats!
@Mim
Come on over-I'll put the kettle on.
I can't stand when simple cakes get made over into terribly complicated ones. Thankfully, pineapple upside-down seems to be resisting that trend. It is a good cake for when you don't desire a challange.
