It was a beautiful, windy, unseasonably warm January day in Nebraska, so we headed out to make the most of it. We did a bit of thrift shopping, and then made our way to Heron Haven to see what wildlife might be around.
While we were in the bird blind with some other people, this muskrat swam over for a photo. Danny said he spotted another, and I announced if I saw a second muskrat, I'd have to sing. That got snickering from the older people. Thankfully for everyone the second never showed up!
Muskrat muskrat....
Luckily, I don't know any songs about mallards.
Or Canada Geese!
Outfit Particulars:
1970's polyester maxi dress-Thrift World (years ago)
1970's polyester jacket(came with a dress)-Salvation Army (I think)
High heeled sneakers-Goodwill
Handbag-Long gone shop in the abandoned mall
Vintage necklace-Garage sale
Earrings-Garage sale
Lucite bangle-Hand-Me-Ups
Fragrance-Amouge Gold (I could barely smell it-must be the jasmine anosmia kicking in)
Before I leave you, I must show you something we saw for sale at Goodwill.
WTF?!
Look, I like cats, but I wouldn't want to share a toilet with them. I can't get the boys to wipe up the seat, how neat do you think a cat would be? Is changing the kitty litter that big of a deal? Has anyone with cats used this thing? I'm trying to be open minded but I don't think I could share a toilet with a pet no matter how much I liked it. Just imagine how outraged a cat would be if I sat my fat ass down in the litter box to drop a turd. There's some things you just don't share. Or, I don't anyway. I'm kinda judgmental that way.
Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
Muskrat loveeeee!!!
ReplyDeleteLove that blue jacket.
If you can't smell an Amouage there's more than a jasmine anosmia going on. Say what you want about Amouage but you can't complain you don't get a lot of bang for your buck. I prefer their attars to their perfumes though.
In our 3 cat household we have 2 litterboxes which must be cleaned daily. Yes, I consider it a chore & cat litter is $15 a bag. BUT I'm not sure if I want to see a cat turd floating in the loo - nor smell cat pee in our bathroom. Living in a low sanitation area I see & smell more excrement of all species lying about.
@Bibi
ReplyDeleteI know, I should be able to smell it. I have a decant of the men's version and I can smell that one. People compare it to Chanel No. 5, which I can't smell either! Sometimes certain jasmines shut everything else down. It drives me crazy-particularly with something so iconic that everyone raves about. Joy, Fidji, Byzance-nope, nope, nope. *Sad face*
I wonder if the other neighbourhood cats tease yours for being too posh:)
That golden minaret atop the Amouage square glass base is a pet relic on my nightstand -- and if I can still sniff a whiff of fragrance so many years later, oh, dear, there must be something amiss with your sniffer!
ReplyDeleteI do zoo duty for three cats in four litter boxes as part of the daily household routine. Were it not for having met a woman who assured me her tomcat was neater "in there, on that" that her husband I'd consider that kit a gag joke. (She assured me their training method involved a small litter pan and ever increasing stacks of National Geographics...?!
The necklace is charming. Some sort of milk glass? Italian?
@Beth
ReplyDeleteThe necklace is thermoset lucite, though it does sort of look like milk glass from a distance. I like wearing white jewelry in winter-it gives me hope!
That weather looked almost spring like, and so do you! Love the necklace and the rings, especially the chunky one, which is how I like mine. Oh dear, could there really be people who'd let their cat share their toilet? xxx
ReplyDeleteHow lovely you had a fab weather day! The muskrat is very cute; I think I'd start singing if I saw one.
ReplyDeleteI love your dress and jacket - you look positively summery in January! Wonderful accessories as always.
sAs for sharing a toilet with pets - no way! It's bad enough sharing with men/boys as you say. There are some incredibly weird things out there and this is one of the weirdest.
My cats go outside - that's the norm here in the UK, where there aren't many predators. I have to be sharp-eyed while gardening, but at least there are no litter trays to change.
ReplyDeleteThere's a song about muskrats?
Love the necklace! WTAF???? jeez people are mental that is for sure.
ReplyDelete@Ann
ReplyDeleteAs far as I know I've never encountered anyone sharing the toilet with their cats...and I'm not sure I'd want to know!
@Veronica
Thank you-this is such strange weather to dress for.
The poor cat on the box looks puzzled!
@Mim
There's an outdoor cat in our neighbourhood that likes our garden. He likes it so much, he leaves us dead mice, headless snakes, etc. I figure he's showing his appreciation.
Yes, there was a song about muskrats in the 70's:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBYV_7a0FQs
I think you can file that under, "WTF America?"
@Miss Magpie
I'm imagining an angry dad banging on the door, "What are you doing in there all this time?! Hurry up, I have to go!"
Oh dear, that song made me feel ill... and I shut it after two lines!
ReplyDeleteYour dress, however, is wonderful, and I love all the jewellery.
ReplyDelete@ Radostin
I'm sorry I subjected you to that!
