Night) and there's nothing but more winter to look forward to. The gaudy sequins, rhinestones, and satin that made getting dressed an adventure have been packed away, and it is just kilts and cable knits (and run-on sentences) from here to spring unless I make an effort. So here's today's effort-an acrylic knit top and skirt from the 70's by the king of matching separates, Marty Gutmacher. Easy care clothes that never wrinkle will always have a place in my wardrobe, especially in January.
Especially in January. January, when my thoughts turn to heavy-duty hand lotion, and sunless tanner.

I love this brooch. I wear it so much because it goes well with most of my wardrobe.
All right, better go find something worthwhile to do even if it is January. Can't stand around picking my nose all day.
Here's to you, January!
You look brilliant in blue and I love your hair too!
ReplyDeleteI like run-on sentences, that's how people really speak so why shouldn't we write that way too? This modern trnd of lots of little, clipped short sentences is a bit silly.
Marigold is one of my least favorite notes in perfumes. It's bitter green scent is not as bad as narcissus, hyacinth, or patchouli to my nose but not my fave for sure. Arab perfumes use it a lot but it usually gets drowned out by the heavy animalics & nuclear oud. Marigold + Gardenia? I suppose Vera was trying a modern minimalistic take on gardenia with the bitter green cutting through the lushness of the gardenia? NAH. Gardenia is supposed to be heady & rich!
I hate January, drab, dreary, dull, boring. I went to the commercial nursery downtown & spent a whopping $9 on a truckload of Spring annuals for the yard to try & lessen the dreariness. (Since about $30 worth of seeds rotted in the prolonged Monsoon rains of Sept. too.)
I can't agree more: that's exactly what I think about January too! The suit's colour looks lovely on you, and hurray for clothes that never wrinkle. I love your new to you shoes, too. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat's suit is such a brilliant colour on you, Goody. I love all the accessories and I think I have the same bangle/necklace but a silver version. I never thought of it as a bracelet so I shall go and experiment...
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are amazing - a beautiful style and such a good colour!
We have the cold on its way and some snow, I believe, so out come the thermal undies...
Ugh! January.
ReplyDeleteNuff said!
Happy thrifting ;)
The one good thing about January is that it's not February - though I got back to work to find out I might be losing my job, so this year I'll take February, I think! Yuor outfit looks ace, just what's needed to brighten up a dreary month. Those shoes are really nice, don't blame you for wearing them all you can. Presumably you're stuck with some sort of boots when you go outside?
ReplyDelete@Bibi
ReplyDeleteI was hoping the marigold would be more front and centre, but it was muted by all the sweetness. My real complaint is that it lasted all of 30 minutes. I don't expect great longevity from a drugstore fragrance, but a full hour would be nice. Her periwinkle and iris lasts much longer.
I crave the sharp green notes-Courreges in Blue is almost pure marigold to my nose so you might want to skip that one if you're tempted.
@Ann
I don't remember the last time I used the iron! You hang in there too. Before we know it, Spring will be here.
@Veronica
You've had some seriously awful weather this year. I hope this is the last of it for you, and that you stay warm.

Oh gosh, I hope that's not the case-they'd be mad to let you go. I'm crossing my fingers (and everything else) that your job isn't on the chopping block.
