Not the least of this cheerful fellow's attractions is his value as a "seasonal" (as contrasted with "Christmas") accessory. When I decorate for the holidays, I have a cunning plan by which on Jan 6th the Christmas doodads are whisked away and the winter nicknacks remain to entertain. This lad would have a spot on a hat or coat 'till spring!
For some reason, this cheeky snowman brooch reminds me of some of the 1960s Christmas tree ornaments we had when I was growing up. Love the little fellow, who doesn't necessarily have to be worn at Christmas! xxx
He must be the 1969 Frosty the Snowman (with Jimmy Durante for the voice). For some reason I recall sparkly snowflake stuff coming out of Frosty's pipe instead of snow in that animated feature. What's Frosty smokin'?!?
@Beate Thank you. I do have a soft spot for snowmen.
@Beth We were just discussing how to stretch the lawn turkey decorations into spring perhaps with a heart for Valentine's, a Shamrock for St. Patrick's, an Easter basket...and so on. I really loathe the time between New Year's and Easter as it can feel so long out here in the middle of the country.
@Vix I have a snowman's head living in my freezer year round so I suppose there's no season on snowmen!
@Bibi In 1969 he was probably smoking hash! But more likely cherry pipe tobacco-everyone's dad smoked that back then.
supercute!!! xxx

ReplyDeleteHe is a cheery fella - Beth's right, you could wear him throughout winter. x

ReplyDeleteThank you. He is cheerful...wonder what he's smoking in that pipe...
@Veronica
Frozen, even ;)
I like him! It's unusual to see one that's outlines rather than solid.
