I love all the details on this brooch from the hats on the riders to the holly on the sleigh. No markings, but it looks suspiciously like the sort of thing I'd buy at Woolworths in the 70's. I miss Woolworths at Christmas the most.
I don't remember where this dove came from.
And it wouldn't be Christmas without a few bows to wrap presents.
See you tomorrow.
The diamante bows remind me of the elegant pieces HM the Queen wears on suits for public appearances in grand halls. (Hats and gloves, ladies!) However, the plain Jane ribbon is a close cousin of a brooch my mum wore to church in the 50s on coats and hats that featured accent panels of suede. (Still have the little suede brush, but the pin has gone *poof*.)
ReplyDeleteagain fine and pretty pieces - love the dove most, followed by the sparkly bows! :-)

The dove is lovely!
ReplyDeleteHow delightful that sleigh brooch is! I'm loving the dove too! I've got a couple of similar bow brooches, which I am wearing all year round. I especially love the one on the bottom of your picture. xxx
ReplyDeleteLove bow brooches! So glam & versatile.

ReplyDeleteMost of the stones have gone missing from the sparkly one but I can't bear to part with it. I might fix it one day.
@Beate
The dove needs a good polishing.
@Vix
I can't remember where I picked it up, but it turned out to be well made.
@Ann
Bows don't really have a season, I suppose.
@Bibi
They are versatile, but strangely I don't wear them often.
The sleigh is so romantic (that dashing top hat!) and the bows are touching, but the dove is my favourite.
