The Moon's the North Wind's Cooky

Well that was fun! We had a terrific view of it from the college next door at the top of the hill.
We had a lucky break with the weather, and the skies cleared for the first time this week. I do hope Danny remembers these things when he's old and complaining his parents never did anything fun with him.
In other news, I'm still dressing like it is 1977. Clearly influenced by my decision to wear blue and yellow, Danny selected a couple new shirts for himself. Can you believe my baby needs shirts this long? Holy shit, that kid is tall. He didn't get that from my side of the family.
I'm going to make a point of posing next to as many pumpkins as possible this autumn. Why not? Right?
I broke out the cloisonne to wear as a set today. Guess what perfume I wore. Go on, guess. There's a review coming eventually.

Outfit Particulars:

1970's home-sewn (not by me) skirt-Goodwill
Polo neck-Gordman's (last year)
Knit short-sleeved sweatery-thing-Kohls, a couple years ago
Clogs-Hand-Me-Ups
Tooled handbag-New Life Thrift
Rhinestone hair comb-Sally's
Cloisonne set-Hand-me-Ups
Fragrance (did you guess it?) Guerlain Parure (get it? Ain't I clever?)

The gardenia gave off one last bloom for the season. We came home this evening and it really did fill the warm, still air. if only I could find a gardenia perfume that smelled like that. Inspired by Sue, I'm going to try and get more photos of my garden in the dark. Not that my garden looks anything like her backyard paradise.
The next time we get a super-moon/eclipse I'll be quite elderly. Danny said he'll come break his Papa and Mama out of the old people's home to view it again. I'm gonna hold him to that promise.

Parure's no longer available, is it? What's it like? My guess was Shalimar, so I was in the right house at least.

Blue and yellow, a classic combination!
I didn't know anything about the super moon until I woke up early and wondered why the room was so lit up - the moons was huge! Of course Danny will remember all this stuff - he'll probably tell jokes about his bonkers parents but secretly he'll have loved every minute. (I try and convince myself of that anyway...) xxx

Aw, I remember when my kids were shorter than me. They were happy to wear children's cutesy clothing (yes, they had hoods with bunny rabbit ears and all the rest of it). Then all of a sudden they got taller than me, and way more sophisticated.

Sorry to reminisce, I got a tear in my eye because I know *exactly* what you mean when you talk about kids needing adult sized clothing. One thing for sure, they may be taller than me, but in my minds eye they'll
always be the little blighters that liked to play in the mud and throw stones in the water.

Happy thrifting :)

@ Mim

It was always my least favourite guerlain-the sort of thing I'd sniff and quickly replace at the perfume counter. It smells like old furniture, paper, libraries that aren't mildewed but are still musty...and it has some really bitter/sour green notes. There's nothing sweet in it at all. If I had to label it, I'd call it a green leather chypre, but that just barely describes it.

@Curtise
That's so funny that you had no idea about the moon. I;d have been frightened!

Mercifully, Danny has never minded dressing foolishly!

Oh, interesting smell! I might like that.

I set my alarm to see the Blood Moon and was rewarded by a particularly spooky ambient light 'neath the cloud cover, then a Hammer film-worthy view of the moon nearly eclipse. Very Celtic!

The cloisonne parure is amazingly complete: rings, pin, broach, necklace and bracelet all present and accounted for... But *ahem* to be complete, does not a parure require a tiara? A classic jewelers in Indianapolis is Petri's "off the Circle", where I'm told that this remark was made to an elderly grande dame who was having her own parure cleaned as a wedding gift to the family's new bride. She calmly lifted the necklace and demonstrated that it was convertible, "like the Queen's." They don't make them like that, anymore. Parures or dames.
