Sunshine On My Shoulders Makes Me Happy(ish)

We had a rare 75 degree F day in early April. I'm certain we'll all be back in woolens by next week, but today was glorious. The lettuces are sprouting up in the boxes you see in the photo, and the dianthus began flowering. what more could I ask for?

How about some great shoes? No, they're not comfortable. They fit better than they look in the photo as I was standing funny for the picture. Walking around my feet don't slide forward like that. They're still not something I'd want to wear on a long walk or drive a car wearing.
I've finally succumbed to the cult of Kate Spade. I have a couple of her bags but they never seemed all that special to me-until this one. The canvas is sturdy, the lining durable, the handles are well made and the bag is an overall joy to carry. I tend to avoid large shoulder bags as they hurt my neck, but this one's practically a tote and can be carried in hand easily enough. I'd say it was $3.99 well spent.

I'm a bundle of stress at the moment, so naturally I've been pouring my energies into distracting activities. Grading papers, unpacking my summer wardrobe, and watching baseball are keeping me busy, and I've started outlining next year's curriculum. Poor Danny, he isn't going to appreciate the classes I've cooked up for him. I'm also planning for the worst with my tooth and jaw, so I've prepared work for the substitute instructor (Mr. ETB) to work with. I find it is best to be over prepared. We're racing into the end of the semester now anyway, so it is largely completing workbooks, drills, and readings. Worst case scenario, there's documentaries though for some reason Danny doesn't appreciate my choice of documentaries. *Shrugs*. I did move the surgery out one more week to give myself a bit more time to get mentally ready.

That is the most beautiful Kate Spade bag I have ever seen! I thought KS' bags all looked like wannabe Hermes (YAWN).
I love the swirly twirly psychedelic skirt with the black gypsy blouse.
I do think you need about 7-8 more gold chains of increasing lengths if you want to go full tilt boogie 70's though ;)

You really suit those off-the-shoulder tops. Is that a sari remnant skirt? If so it's one of the best I've ever seen.
Hooray for hot weather we had two days of it last weekend and it really does make everything better. xxx

What an amazing skirt. You do look good in it.
Did you receive my B'day card, I was worried about you? JF

Love the skirt and you're looking great in that off-the-shoulder top, which I certainly couldn't pull off. It also has to be a lot warmer for me to go even sleeveless ... The bag is a beauty, especially at that price! xxx

All hail, Goody, Queen (nah, make that Empress)of the blending of patterns and accessories! The pattern of the skirt fabric mixing with the Spade bag pattern ($4 you say!?) is a formula for magic, lacking only the elusive ingredient of truly fabulous shoes -- and there they are!

The off-the-shoulder top is exactly right. Shows you're not trying too hard to live up to those shoes. How can any woman who looks this good need dental surgery? Bless you, and please take every antibiotic you're given. Went through the endodontist ordeal myself a few years back, so I do truly empathize with your apprehension. (Can you eat real yoghurt? It does help the digestion afterwards.)

I've seen some Spade novelty bags at other blogs, but those are about the only ones worth buying-the Hermes-esque thing is done better elsewhere.

The skirt is made of a knit jersey material like a tee-shirt, and the rough edges have been overlocked. I like the idea, and I'd wondered if I could do a similar thing with old concert shirts?

Thank you.

In the real heat of summer I can't go sleeveless either as everyone runs air conditioning at full blast. My cardigans get as much use in August as December.

You're sweet. I'm not sure if I can live up to the shoes but here's to trying! The old men at the library had better watch out...

Yep, youghurt. I hate the stuff, but you're right about the benefits. I'm planning to rebuild my strength with Haagen Daz coffee ice cream as much as possible.

Have a wonderful Pesach!

That skirt is amazing. I love a good swirly skirt. It's like Stevie Nicks goes pop. (There's a bit of Stevie in all of us, I'm sure.)

Goody, you look hot! And I don't mean sweaty...

Love the skirt and bag especially. The Bardot top is fab and as for those shoes...I could just about stagger to the loo in them!

The shoes are tricky to wear, I won't lie. I'm hoping practise makes perfect.
