Hat's Entertainment

My hair won't do shit in the winter. I could spend time being upset by that, or invest in conditioners/styling products/a decent haircut, etc. but being the practical sort, I looked in my cupboard, assessed my collection of hats, and here we are. Life is too short to spend it screwing around with hair.

Not hat related, but I had to show you the Selro necklace I picked up last weekend for $5.99. I nearly fainted when I saw it. The Christmas tree brooches will be added to the collection. I'm going to try and wear them all this season, though I might need to wear five at a time to make it. I was thinking of doing a "Brooch of the Day" feature like the Plaid Tidings I did a couple years ago. Would you guys be up for that in December?
 This wool and rhinestone 60's hat has been waiting in my collection for years. I knew the right outfit would come along-it just took 5 years! That's okay, it isn't like the vintage will go out of style. The sweater dress is something I wouldn't typically wear, but it was .49 cents at Goodwill so I took a gamble. I really don't like Empire waists, but this one had so many other cool features I was willing to overlook the "Uniboob" these dresses always give me.
I added a faux fur because...November in the American Midwest.
 The sleeves are decorated on the underside. Me neither.
The lace feature at the bodice is nice though.

Y'know with those glasses if you got a red & white striped jumper & a beanie with a pom pom on top to match you could do a Where's Waldo/Wally? spot on the blog.
I'm game for a 'brooch o' the day' holiday series though.
That empire waist mini dress looks like the Chinese weirdness that comes here by the truckload. Usually an overload of incongruent western fashion motifs bizarrely stuck on one garment. Some of the local Indian-western fusion style clothing are just as strange.
That Selro necklace is divine!

I would definitely be up for seeing a brooch of the day feature. You've got some great ones there.

As Christmas trees are all pointy, you could group them point-inwards into some sort of super-christmassy star.

@Bibi
Where's Waldo! LMFAO.

@Mim
Maybe I could do it like an Advent countdown?

@Beate
Thank you.
I could do a sweater of the day too, if I'm stuck for ideas.

Beautiful sweater dress! The great flowers distract from the empire waist - does anyone look good in them?
I'm swooning over the necklace, too. Gorgeous!
Do you read Kezzie's blog? She has a regular post showing off her recent brooch wearing. You could do something like that.
My fake fur is on, too. This momma doesn't like to be cold!

Hooray for hats and the fact that you look so good in them.
Talking of looking good I love those trousers on you. The Kashmiri jacket is glorious as is the fake fur.
I've come across similar dresses in chazzas, the print alignment is rather intriguing but it looks great with the rest of the outfit. xxx

Yes, please to the brooch of the day feature! I love hats, especially berets, and I always look forward to the colder weather just to wear them. Even my short hair won't cooperate in Winter, but it doesn't matter if I can wear a hat! That necklace is stunning! I'm a big fan of the embroidered jacket. The last outfit is my favourite, I'd love to see the boots close up, they're intriguing me ... xxx

@Bobbi
Yes, I do read her blog. My brooches aren't anywhere near as cool though!
Stay warm, you.

@Vix
Radostin had suggested it might be a cutting mistake that they just went ahead and sewed together anyway.

@Ann
You have some great Kangol hats.
I had a close-up photo of the boots somewhere (Instagram, maybe?) so I'll look for it. If not, I'm sure I'll wear them again. They're tapestry lined with fur.

Emeraude smells like "Christmas" to me! Ah, the memories of sniffing the perfumes in those fantastically decorated downtown department stores! (And eyeing the make-up the counter clerks were wearing...so sophisticated!)

Displaying your forest of Christmas trees sounds like a challenge, Goody. I've told you about a lady who wears hers on a green wool beret. Five per 70s coat lapel sounds do-able. How about loading the ends of a stole?

Love the boots! As you say, November in the American Midwest.

@Beth
Me too! One year (maybe '74-'75 ish) my sister bought me a bottle of the bright green stuff. I was horrified (didn't know how glorious the perfume was back then)and couldn't imagine anyone wearing it. Still, I'll always associate it with Christmas morning.

We had to get dressed-up to shop downtown-you wouldn't go wearing jeans. Probably a similar situation in Indiana? Nothing special about department stores now. Would you believe they charge more than $50.00 for a "Gift" from Estee Lauder, AND expect you to make a purchase as well?! Some gift!

Goody,

I love you in the hats and the sweater dress! White is such a good colour for you. The pattern/detail on the dress is gorgeous and I see no sign of a uniboob. Love the faux fur, too, and the almost identical matching handbag.

Fabulous jewellery. I have no idea what sort of necklace it is but it's beautiful; such a wonderful shade of blue.

The Kashmiri jacket is just lovely.

Hope you have a great week!

Yes, please to the 'brooch of the day' feature - even 'brooches of the day' should you so decide...

The deer prancing in the wind jumper is quite charming, and the Kashmiri jacket a stunner. The fur and cream outfit is just fantastic, you look like a character in a story book. Wonderful.
