Knowing that this weather is with us for a bit, we took Danny to the comic book store to stock-up on reading. Poor kid hasn't been to the pool but a handful of times, and bike riding is out of the question in this bad air with asthma. Sure, we've watched movies, and read books but when you see your summer break slipping away day after blisteringly hot/humid day, someone has to intervene and make the summer a bit more enjoyable. We have a terrific comic book store near us, so thank goodness for that.
The necklace and earring set I'm wearing today was a Mother's Day gift from Danny several years ago. On most of my clothing it disappears, but I finally found the perfect dress for it. The child has excellent taste.
My local K Mart was having a sale this weekend on shoes. Already clearenced shoes were buy one, get one so these ended up costing four dollars. I bought a second pair in a similar style. They'd look better without the nana tights, I know.

The world's easiest up-do for a hot day, courtesy of a giant comb. I like the back closure on the dress, though the strange crease across it is annoying. It won't wash or steam out, so my guess is it was a problem with the design.
No caftan this week due to heat. Stay cool/warm wherever you are, and have a great week.

I am actually celebrating this with you. Sorry. No photos from me. I have been perspiring (OK Sweating) through my big thick minimizer bras on these hot days and I just had to let the girls hang around in a little sun dress for a summer vacation. You look very cool and you are so right. Your child has terrific taste!
Looking fabulously Athenian again with that owl over your shoulder, a gorgeous pleated gown with a Bacchanalian grape necklace!
Speaking of geriatric tits- I'm a solid 40DDD (or E?) any recommendations from yourself & your entourage of fashion mavens for marvelous minimizers? I'm going shopping in the US in the fall & I usually buy Bali, Glamourize & Wacoal models if I can find them in my size(which usually requires buying bras mail order).
@Connie
Great to hear from you! Nah, you don't sweat...you glow ;)
@Bibi
Years ago I would wear Edith Lances minimisers when I was looking for a 20's flattened look. They do the trick, but you don't get much lift or shape from them. For straight out flattening though, I can't think of a better bra. I've found the Olgas to be hit and miss, so try before you buy.
Oh, Miss JJ, I adore that dress! Great tits too, of course. If mine looked like that without a bra, I would be a happy woman.
Lovely jewellery from Danny, and I am coveting the bracelet as well as the frock. And the boobs.
I clearly need a cold shower... xxx
@Curtise
I've seen you in a swimsuit-you look great braless.
Now who needs the cold shower? Whew!
Wowzer!!! You look rather gorge in GREEN!! That frock is amazing and the tits look fab! If I went braless the girls would probably dance about my knees and I would me more than hot and sweaty, I'd be bruised! While you have the heat we have the cold. At least with cold you can keep chucking on the layers, with the heat there is only so much you can take off, and if it is a bra, so be it.
Back in the day, when others were burning their bras, I took a good look in the glass and burned my girdles. However, if I looked as good in that dress bra-less as you do, I'd get out the matches.
Am I the only woman reading this post who is singing the "Having a heat wave..." number from Menopause the Musical. Tra la, la la...
That dress looks beautiful on you! Took a look at your pics on the right side of your blog, you are funny!! Greetings from Italy!
It is 34° C here in Sicily...HOT and HUMID! Love your dress and hairdo.
@Sue
The only reason I'm not sagging is the neckline is holding everything up. Needless t say, I had one hell of a sprained neck the next day!
@Beth Waltz
I'm not ready to light a match to my foundations, but some dresses don't require much underneath. This is one. Believe me, I'm not defying gravity or anything like it.
@Caramella
Thank you. Your blog is full of fun as well.
@Saucy Siciliana
Yes, that IS too hot. I like the hairwrap you were wearing on your blog today. Can't go wrong with spots.
I can't wait to see the Hallmark cards for *this* holiday...
Danny does indeed have excellent taste, that necklace is gorgeous.
That's one helluva dress Goody and you look fantastic in it, your boy has the best taste in Mother's Day gifts. I too am coveting the bracelet.
Wahhhhh!!! I love that butterly handbag. I've been staring at it for days! It's GORGEOUS!! You have the most ridiculously wonderful handbags.
And you look amazing in that dress. I bet you stopped traffic.
....sending cool thoughts your way....
@Mim
I'm trying my best to come up with a clever joke about promoting it with broadsides...but it is late, and my brain is done for the day.
@Jayne
Thank you. Funny thing about the bracelet is that someone fixed it at one point and now it fastens by clipping it with the hook facing my inner wrist. I'm not the most coordinated person, but putting this bracelet on (and taking it off) is almost comical to watch.
@Thrifty Parka
Don't know about stopping any traffic, but at least no one yelled, "Put 'em away!" from a moving car. Thank you for complimenting my handbags-I'm a collector, but a cheapskate so I rarely spend much on them.
Surely the logical promotional tool would be a couple of hooters!
Love to drop by when in Europe. Will you meet up somewhere public for a quick drink and chat at some point?
