The Happiest Music On Earth

Danny, out of the blue:

"Mama? Mama? Can I get an accordion and lessons? You know, if you have an accordion, you have a party."

I won't dispute that, I'm just a little shocked to hear it out of my five year old. So Internets, if you know an accordion teacher in Eastern Nebraska that you think would be a good match for the future Big Dan The Polka Man, let me know via the comments, or email.

Roll out the barrel, we'll have a barrel of fun...

The other issue showing itself here is that Big Dan likes to party and wants to be the center of it. Or, at least, the instigator of fun.

Well, yes-and he really enjoys a good polka. I guess I shouldn't have let him watch all those old Lawrence Welk shows on PBS from the 70's (at least, I think that's where it comes from).

I agreed to take lessons as well, which ought to be really fun, having a mother/son accordion duo. I would say, "Only in Nebraska", but I think that probably comes up a lot in Wisconsin as well.

I don't know why most people dislike the accordion. I agree w/Danny: it's party fun! I want YouTube vids of the two of you. It's great fun in American music, charming in France and rousing in Mexico. Love it!
