There's nothing I like better than a well-made Ultra Suede garment.
The weather is not quite ready for genuine suede, but Ultra Suede is a wonderful way to move my wardrobe into autumn with a breathable fabric. It was a bit of luck that I already had a velour hat that matched this dress to perfection. As it is a strange not quite blue/grey/green shade it really is a wonderful find.

Unpacking the autumn/winter clothing from storage is always an adventure. I won't even bother with the holiday clothing until November, and the heavy woolens until December or January. I have boxes marked, Winter I, II, and III. Pathetic, perhaps but when I go looking for something, I know where to find it. As I never know what will fit from one year to the next, the first few weeks in a new season can be frustrating as I set aside that which fits, "might fit in a few weeks" or, "Ain't never gonna fit again." Then, there's the items I bought at the end of last winter that I'd forgotten about. That's always fun, discovering I have new clothes.
Ooops-lost a blue stone somewhere. I'm so darn blind I hadn't noticed. Makes me wonder what else I'm missing? I need you guys to promise-if I have large hairs sprouting from my chin, someone will tell me. Promise?
This yellow Ultra Suede jacket gets plenty of wear too. I have the identical jacket in a pale pink as well. When I like something, I tend to seek it out in every colour.
I suppose you want a better look at the crazy, "Mrs. Beasley" dress, eh?
I like this dress, but it is the sort of thing I can't wear often as it is so memorable.
I'll have you know, Mrs. Beasley wore square specs.

I'm confident Mrs. Beasley wouldn't wear these shoes.
Do you love Ultra Suede, or is it a synthetic fibre too far for your tastes?

I wore sooo much Sears Roebuck & homemade polyester pantsuits in the 70's as a child I hope to never wear the stuff again. "Sand silk" is the somewhat more glamourous name polyester chiffon is given in South Asia. It is the crappiest, scratchiest, snaggiest stuff possible.
I'm loving the ultrasuede in the gorgeous muted hue & the beaded bag. What's that brilliant pink lippy you're wearing with it? Lovely!
For some reason the Mrs Beasley dress reminded me of Aunt Bea in Mayberry. I need a Mr Sebastian to whip my household into gear up here. Definitely a memorable dress.
It is still warm here (in the high 80'sF) and we had a 12 hour thunderstorm last night that was LOUD. No electricity today. Accuweather says we'll be having Monsoon rains for 2 more weeks. The Monsoon seems to be starting & finishing later for the last 5 yrs. This really screws up the Winter wheat & potato crops here as their seedlings tend to rot in the warm & wet weather.
It only gets cold enough in our subtropical valley to wear a sweater in December & January (60's). Although as soon as the temps get below 90 the Nepalis are donning sweaters & long underwear.
What a gorgeous colour your suede dress is, I think we would call the colour Petrol Blue here. Who knew petrol was blue?! HA!
That hat and dress are made for each other! The colour is very pretty on you and contrasts beautifully with the shade of your lipstick. Very chic!
Wow, that bracelet: it's gorgeous! I like the "crazy" dress too, it's definitely something I would have bought. As for Mrs. Beasley, I completely forgot about her, but now remember that Mattel based a cute little doll on her. Sadly not in my collection ... xxx
Best line from John Waters' guest appearance on THE SIMPSONS:
"Ultrasuede is a miracle. This is just good timing."
Swap an off-blue-gray soft leather envelope bag, some 30s strappy city-walking heels for the bead bag and shoes you're wearing now -- and the Art Deco does ultra-suede ensemble is ready for An Event at the Chicago Art Institute. Y'know the dining room, with the drapes, and real china! Never mind the cab with the Sikh in the turban, this would be An Event requiring the hiring of a limo driven by a guy called Eddie. (Suspect Mr. ETB would not be coerced into a suit with tie, but Danny might be up for a Dapper escort outfit.)
Me, I always longed for a Halston ultra-suede polo coat/dress ensemble to be worn with tall matching boots and a floppy hat. Ah, the 70s! when I had a waistline and could wear coats with belts.
I've never heard of ultra suede before but I like it! The dress is wonderful, looks amazing on you AND you have a matching hat - What a bit of serendipity! Once again you look like you're off to tea at the palace with Her Maj....
Fabulous jewellery and accessories as always.
Have a lovely week, Goody.

Wow! Look at you all slim and trim!! I was nodding my head vigorously when you mentioned your Winter clothing cataloging system. Sadly, my woolens will be coming out in the next month.
Life in Canada, eh?
Happy thrifting ;)
Love, love, love that first outfit, you look like Jackie O! the colour, the fit, everything is just stunning.
I'm going to have to Google Mrs Beasley, I haven't got a clue who or what she is but the dress is ace. xxx
I haven't worn ultrasuede but can't see why I wouldn't. You certainly make it look good.
That brooch is really nice, do you have a spare stone to put in it? If not, I can probably send you one, I've got loads of green/pink/blue ones. The bracelet is fab too. You are the Accessory Queen.
You match as well as the Queen!
I do like the pattern and shape of the blue dress, much more attractive than Mrs Beasley (though google left me none the wiser, really, as to who she is).
@Bibi
"Buffy, Buffy come back to me
Why'd you have to go and O.D>?
What about Uncle Bill, Jody, and Sissy?"
Er, sorry, had to after you mentioned the butler ;)
The lippy is a Siriano crayon I bought last Christmas. They're wonderful and I hope he brings them back again this year.
@Sue
That's a new one for me. I wonder how that came about?
@Ann
Those dolls were everywhere for a bit after a character on a television programme had one. You couldn't avoid them in the US.
@Propagatrix
I never saw that episode. How could I have missed it? *Off to Youtube I go*
@Beth
You forgot the part about curators running to hide in their offices so they aren't trapped into conversation with donors.
@Veronica
It is a wonderful synthetic material that looks and drapes like suede, but is lightweight, and washable. I'm not sure if it had a different name outside the US, but it was a wonderful material.
Hope your week is great too.
@Thrifty Parka
I've been to Canada in winter-and I hope I never need to again! You're made of tougher stuff than I. I guess there's a reason Canada has the nicest woolens in the world.
@Vix
She was a character/doll that wore a spotty blue and white dress and had large specs. I never really warmed to her, but some girls in the 60's and 70's were mad for her.
@Mim
That's so kind of you to offer. I have so many stones sitting loose, I'm sure I can find one, but the offer to ship me a replacement across the Atlantic is very, very sweet of you. Odds are, I'll forget about it until the next time I see a photo and think."Oh yeah, I need to fix that."
@Radostin
I haven't started wearing black shoes and a matching handbag with everything...yet!
As far as I know, Mrs. Beasley was just a doll with some storybooks built around her to sell more merchandise.
Is the green collar actually part of the dress? Mental!
@Miss Magpie
I don't know if it was original to the dress. or sewn on at a later point. I bought the dress at a costume shop so it is possible it was added to make the dress more visible from an audience.
Then again, the early 70's had some crazy clothes, so who knows?
